END OF WINTER AND BEGINNING OF SPRING

Soon it will be the end of winter and the beginning of spring. This will be a happy time for your feeder birds, for it will be breeding season. I'ts an exciting time for bird enthusiasts as they witness this annual event. As a fledgling business owner, I too, am excited to see chickadees, bluebirds and nuthatches perform their ritual. With the tough economics times we're having it's nice to take some time off to witness nature at its best. I'ts nice if only for a few minutes, to keep your mind focused on something else. Hope to be posting more on this blog and telling you of my experiences. I am an animal lover at heart and also enjoy the two tortoises I currently have. www.birdroost.com

Breeding season for birds

The breeding season for most small birds starts in late winter or spring when the changing lengths of daylight ( photoperiod) trigger hormonal changes in the birds, which in turn result in changed behavior. Birds that are year-round residents of an area, such as white-breated nuthatches, may begin to restrict their movements to a nesting area.
